MOST OF MY CLIENTS are interested in either maintaining their current weight
or in losing weight.Regardless of your goal,eating is 75% of the total package
that will make or break the success of any holistic health and fitness program.
 
THE UPS AND DOWNS OF A HIGH-PROTEIN DIET:You read a lot about high-protein
diets and the problem with many of these programs is that the fat content is too
high. When your carb intake drops way down to less then 50 grams per day the
body adjust to that low carb mode.The problem is that you cannot stay on such
a low-carb diet over the long term and that means a major rebound effect.

Once you get back to eating higher levels of carbs all the weight you lost
while on a high protein diet will re-emerge as soon as you resume "normal"
eating habits of bread,pasta,and the other starchy carbs you avoided while
"dieting". This high-protein,high-fat,short-term-benefit approach is pointless.



I'm against any diet that extols the virtues of eating unlimited bacon,rich cheeses
and other high-fat foods that are quite frankly, very unhealthy.

You need to include good fats in your diet.I recommend canola oil,vegetable oil,
flaxseed oil, raw nuts,organic peanut butter and almond butter,avocados and olives.
Fish oils such as the Omega-3s and Omega -6s found in salmon are fine.

Udo oil-which you can buy in most health food stores and markets such as Whole Foods,
can be taken as a supplement(capsules or in liquid form) before or after meals.



Trouble Shooting Tips For Women in Search Of A Healthier Diet:
Many women become obsessed with low-carb eating and that's not going to get
it done.It's true that if you eat too many carbs in one meal it will shoot up your
insulin, a fat-storing hormone and that's not what you want.The objective is to
keep your hormone levels flat and neutral,and if you add protein ,fat or both,
it will neutralize your hormones and keep your body in a state of balance.

Now, you are burning calories and fat all day long.

Planning Ahead:
Budget enough time in the day to eat breakfast at home. A lot of people skip
breakfast because they are running late and that's mistake number one.

Cottage cheese and fruit is an easy-to-fix breakfast that takes less than
10 minutes to prepare. Oatmeal, fresh fruit and scrambled egg whites will
put you on the way to a succesful day of eating healthy and all it takes
is 10 minutes a day!
